As a people watcher I began noticing a strange phenomenon in 2003 overseas which was not happening in Canada at that time... People were uncontrollably it seemed looking and holding mobile phonees for no reason.  I noticed each and every day on the train that impulsively upon sitting down roughly 90% of people would remove thier mobile phone, swipe it, notice nothing is ew on the screen and put it ack in theri pocket or bag... The more strange observation was within less than 90 seconds, they would again pull out the phone, swipe, look and put away again... This continued indefinitely in most cases.  It was at this point I made athe conscious decision > I WOULD NOT BE A VICTIM OF WHATEVER THIS PHENOMENON WAS....

FAST FORWARD 14 YEARS AND THIS MENTALITY IS APPARENT ON A MUCH MORE CONCERNING SCALE..

SO HOW DO YOU REMOVE YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES FROM THIS TECH-RETARDATION? THE FOLLOWING NOTES WILL SHED LIGHT ON THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE METHODS TO FIX/CURE IT.  PLEASE READ ON.

IN SIMPLE TERMS, THEIR ARE PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCES AT WORK.  YEARS OF EXTENSIVE RESEARCH DESIGNED TO COMPEL USERS TO 'PLAY' WITH THE DEVICE ARE OBVIOUSLY BECOMING APPARENT.  A BASIC LITMUS TEST TO DETERMINE IF YOUR A VICTIM IS... 'iS THE USER USING THE DEVICE AS A EFFECTIVE TOOL OR IS THE DEVICE USING THE USER...?' MOST PEOPLE CAN WITHOUT BIAS SAY THE LATTER.

BIG BUSINESS AND MEDIA HAVE ULTRA EFFECTIVELY (LITERALLY) BRAINWASHED CONSUMERS TO PURCHASE DEVICES BUILT TO SUBJUGATE THE USER MENTALLY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY USE THE DATA RETRIEVED FROM THE USERS DAILY HABITS AND BEHAVIOURS TO FURTHER EXPLOIT THE USER THROUGH THE DATA RECEIVED -

iN ESSENCE, USERS ARE PAYING TO PROVIDE THE DATA NEEDED TO PINPOINT EXACTLY WHAT TECHNOLOGIES ARE IN FACT CONTROLLING THEM.

THE ENTIRE PROCESS IS ACTUALLY QUITE BRILLIANT, AS THE ENTIRE OPERATION IS IN PLAIN SIGHT, YET NO ONE SEEMS TO NOTICE.

IN MORE BASIC TERMINOLOGY, THE DATA (THE THINGS YOU DO ON THE DEVICE) IS SENT TO THE NETWORK IN A DIGITAL FORM. THAT INFORMATION ALLOWS 'THEM' TO LEARN HOW TO ATTRACT USERS MORE BASED ON THE BEHAVIOURS IN THE DATA.   *THIS IS ANOTHER TOPIC WHICH COULD BE A FULL VOLUME IN ITSELF....

When/If you are able to grasp the fact that devious techniques are at work against you (the user) you should feel concerned for your own well-being and health as well as those around you, who more than likely are completely oblivious.

Assuming you are now conscious of the fact you are essentially an unconscious participant in a science experiment, we will now look towards how to ween off this addiction.  There are a few realities you must come to accept during this process...

1. Realise you are in control of your actions
2. Realise this will be a mental challenge
3. You are smarter than a computer
4. You are a human, not a machine
5. You are the good person in this scenario (Although if you are the one stepping up in the family to make these changes you are about to be temporarily hated)
6. If you make excuses, you will not succeed! This is a 'cold turkey' method

Now is the time to decide what side of the fence you are on... If we can agree right now, without hesitation that the general population has an overwhelming 'problem' and you want to easily solve the problem for the benefit of yourself, your family or humanity at large then congratulations, your about to take a few simple steps that are necissary to come back to reality quickly-  Be excited! There is a new beginning directly ahead!

Steps:::

Options are provided based on specific situations below, each option will have point form steps to succeed. Following each option, detailed notes will follow with solutions for the issues you may encounter during the process as well as additional helpful insight.

Option 1. If You do not require the phones for business purposes (Primarily for children, students)
1. Disconnect plans immediately. No excuses. This includes - Internet, Cable, Wifi
2. Remove all devices (pack them up in a secure location)
3. Schedule a family meeting

Notes:::
Step 1 requires disconnection of ALL signals in the household. You may encounter 'disconnection' fees by the providers in an attempt to thwart your progress.  If you encounter this please refer to the appendix for tips on dealing with this nonsense. I have included removal of the cable television, this should also be disconnected for quick and optimal results.
Step 2 requires confiscation/removal of the devices. This includes all phones active on a plan or non-active (old phones laying around) , as well as video game consoles and televisions can be removed. All modems and networking peripherals should also be removed. This is an 'out of sight, out of mind' technique which will help everyone involved.  All this technology should boxed up and be moved to an external location if possible..
Step 3 requires a family meeting to be scheduled. This is normally announced on confiscation/removal of the cellular phones, as this is the most challenging portion of the curing process. During the meeting discussion topics include:
-Discuss observations including the amount of wasted time, laziness and overall excessive usage of devices in the household (citing the obvious facts will help gain acceptance) You want those involved to ultimately realise the problem they have.
-Discuss Dangers including the overall social effects everyone can see. Show warning on cellular phone manual. See appendix for a list of popular devices.
-Discuss the monetary benefits. This is a great way to gain acceptance. For example the average family has 4 devices or $300 per month for phones alone, this can be a future family after x amount of months. Alternatively this can be used for household items, clothing, education funds etc.
- Discuss behaviours including the lack of respect shown when 'interrupting' someone on the phone or the zombie like mentality of those using the devices constantly. This is a major concern to fix.
- Discuss the 'New Plan' which may include.. (This is where participation and 'suggestions' should be invited...
-Landline for X months (Friends need to be in contact? They can call the landline... That is the ONLY option! Yes!)
-House is 100% signal free
-Read books (visti the local library)
-Art projects
-Fitness schedule (home, gym or club)
-Checking E Mails & Social Network schedules

To effectively 'rehabilitate / cure' those involved you need to be ready for withdrawal symptoms and in many cases with children, they will 'sneak' access at schools, libraries, friends houses and anywhere else they can 'get connected'. This is why the 'New Plan' is required to fill the voids in the schedule with alternatives and for the 'boss' to be strict in monitoring that those involved are in fact following the modified schedule.  Keep those involved busy and active in other activities, try and team up with other parents to combine your efforts if possible.

Observations: During public observation on men and women, noticeably a much larger percentage of women can be seen holding phones although the phone is not being used.



Rationale & Reasoning: Ruling out that a majority of users are business persons or waiting on a life changing phone call or message. We all look at the comments on social networks... lets be honest, everyone does.

Most people believe each one of the comments is made by a real person. However, a very large percentage are actually "robot comments" or made by a "comment ro(bot)"

In simple terms a comments bot is a computer program designed with the purpose of finding, commenting and replying to certain videos/posts that fit it requirements. The program first finds
a video or post page based on the subject it is looking for, once it finds the page it "reads" all the comments and determines if anyone is commenting or discussing anything based on its final objective.

If for example, the comment bot is built to look at all videos/posts titles relating to the topic/subject/video title...

An old man walked by a middle aged woman on the street 10mins ago, she was staring at her cell phone and upon passing her on the sidewalk said in a freindly voice "You look just like a teenager". He was in essence paying her a compliment of sorts.


An observation to note:

1. Both parties have accepted these behaviours as normal.

So what is Normal? and what is Acceptance?

Acceptance is defined as: Consent to receive something.


So the old man has "acceptance" that teenagers walk around staring at phones is "normal". Therefore the middle aged women is like a teenager to him.
